Hysan Woo is an Associate of Karas So LLP. 

He specialises in commercial litigation and arbitration with a focus on insolvency and fraud-related matters.

Hysan has acted for liquidators on several cases involving high-profile corporate collapses, involving claims against former directors, auditors and banks.  He also has experience in obtaining urgent interim injunctions in aid of civil proceedings.

Hysan is a native speaker of English and Cantonese, and is fluent in Mandarin.

Key Experience

Insolvency

• Representing the liquidators of a former Hong Kong listed company in a claim against a global financial institution for sponsor misconduct relating to the company’s initial public offering.
• Representing the liquidators of various former Hong Kong listed companies bringing claims of professional negligence against their former auditors.
• Advising and acting for the liquidators in high-profile collapses of listed companies.  The businesses operated by these companies include property development, dairy farming, telecommunications, sale of automobiles, production and sales of food and beverage, and the operation of department stores.

Arbitration

• Representing a minority shareholder of a software company in an HKIAC arbitration brought against a US-listed Chinese company in respect of an M&A dispute.
